The genus Anthemis, has about 200 species of herbaceous annual, biennial and perennial plants. Anthemis nobilis (Anthemis nobilis) is known primarily for its flowers, which, like the flowers of chamomile pharmacy (Matricaria chamomilla), are used to prepare medicinal tinctures. This is a groundcover species with a height of 15-25 cm with pinnately dissected leaves. Inflorescences-baskets of small white flowers, similar to the inflorescences of daisies, bloom all summer. Anthemis Cretan (A. cretica) - a species up to 30 cm high, forming a kind of pillow of pinnately dissected leaves covered with gray or white fluff. The baskets consist of marginal white flowers and median yellow ones. The species also includes the Cretan Carp navel (A. S. var. carpatica) and the Cretan ponrica navel (A. s. var. ponrica). Anthemis tinctoria is a root-springing perennial, grown as a biennial, a shrub 70 cm high, densely branching. Leaves alternate pinnately dissected toothed gray-green. Inflorescences are yellow up to 4 cm in diameter, from which in former times a coloring agent was obtained. The variety 'Belaya' has white marginal and yellow median flowers. Most often grown antemis dye Kelvel (A. t. var. kelvelyi). A variety with larger golden-yellow inflorescences was bred.

Cultivation

Anthemis are grown in open ground and pots; they are used for rock gardens, borders, mixborders. Plants of open ground are planted in a permanent place in autumn or spring with an interval of 30-40 cm from each other. Any soil, preferably carbonate or calcareous. For potted crops, ordinary garden land is used. To create a grassy cover from the noble Anthemis, it is planted in the ground early in spring, in April, placing seedlings at a distance of 15 cm from each other. During the growing season, a complex fertilizer in the amount of 10 g per bucket is added to the water for irrigation.

Location

Light-loving species, prefers a place in the open sun.

Temperature

These species grow successfully in temperate and elevated temperatures.

Watering

In general, the plants are drought-resistant. Irrigation is resorted to only in case of prolonged drought, since excessive humidity is dangerous for anthemis.

Transplant

Transplanted once every 1-2 years, in the spring. However, after 4-5 years, it is recommended to plant plants in the open ground.

Reproduction

Propagate by sowing seeds or cuttings. Annual plants are sown in spring in boxes or directly in the open ground, and then, as soon as the seedlings grow up, the strongest ones are selected and finally planted. In perennial species, cuttings are taken in the second half of summer, which form roots well if they are planted in containers with a moistened peat-sand mixture and closed with a transparent plastic film to maintain high humidity. The noble Anthemis is also propagated by dividing the bush in autumn or early spring, immediately transplanting the resulting parts into the ground.

Diseases

Excess moisture causes root rot and diseases of the plant's conducting system. Ensure good drainage. The lack of iron is compensated by adding iron chelates to the soil. Snails and slugs are disposed of using appropriate baits.

Acquisition

It is recommended to purchase varieties of different types. Make sure that the plant is branched, but compact, with a healthy root system.
