Cultivation

Brachyscome is grown primarily in the open field on flower beds and borders, to create any flower beds and in pots on balconies and terraces. They are planted in a permanent place in the ground in May, in a fertile, drained, light-textured soil; when planting, organic fertilizers are applied at the rate of 5 kg/m2. When cultivating in pots, use a mixture of 2/3 of fertile soil and 1/3 of sand with the addition of complete mineral fertilizer at the rate of 30 g per bucket. They are planted at a distance of 30-35 cm from each other. In the spring and summer, once a month, mineral fertilizer is added to the water for irrigation in an amount of 10-20 g per bucket.

Location

The Brachyscome should be planted in the open sun, when grown in pots, placed in the most illuminated place.

Temperature

Brachyscome is a thermophilic plant that is resistant to high air temperatures.

Watering

Brachyscome does not tolerate stagnant water in the soil. Watering is necessary only for young plants and during periods of drought.

Care

Remove faded baskets and damaged parts.

Reproduction

Seeds are sown at the end of winter on the surface of the earth in containers filled with light soil, or scattered over the soil surface in the spring in the air, after which they are lightly covered with a layer of sifted earth. The temperature is maintained at 18-20 °C, then, after thinning the seedlings, the temperature is lowered by several degrees. Seeds can also be sown directly into the ground in the fresh air, waiting for the end of the frost, and then thinned out.

Diseases

Decay of the roots and root collar may begin due to various fungi if the soil in the garden or pots is too wet. Plants can be infected with gray mold (Botrytis) and other fungal infections that cause leaf and flower decay. Treat them with fungicides.

Acquisition

Since this is a fairly rare plant, you should go to shopping centers that offer a wide range of crops. Choose compact plants with no spots.
